African Summer School Site Visit

Carmichael Builders has recently had the pleasure of hosting the Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Industry Summer Schools Project involving 15 African migrant students. The students visited Carmichael Builders Arrow Energy Site early December 2011. The program allows the students to experience the work and lifestyle opportunities available in the Surat Basin region, around Agriculture, Health and Community and Energy (including Construction) sectors. The aim is to encourage enrolment in vocational education programmes to up skill communities and retain them in the region to fill employment opportunities.

The Project is financially supported by Education Queensland, Catholic Education, NAB and the Department of Communities. The students were
escorted around the site with Carmichael Builders staff happy to answer questions regarding the site, construction industry, staff capabilities,
history and structure.

Carmichael Builders was more than happy to educate the students regarding the Construction industry. It is great to see and be a part of these
programs as it brings hope, happiness and education to these kids that they may not have experienced otherwise. The tours allow the students to make informed decisions about possible careers and Carmichael Builders is more than happy to assist.
